Assessment and Exam Services

Assessment and Exam Services (AES) offers exam invigilation services for Grade 12 equivalency testing and keyboarding assessments.

Math Learning Centre

The Math Learning Centre is staffed by qualified student tutors who can help you with math assignments. Check out the Math Learning Centre schedule.

Peer Supported Learning

Are you struggling with a course? Peer Supported Learning offers scheduled study sessions run by students who have successfully completed courses. Learn more about Peer Supported Learning.

Volunteer Tutor Program

Get one-on-one tutoring in many subjects with one of our volunteer tutors. They can also help English as a second language students with English. Learn about the Volunteer Tutor program

Writing Centre

The Writing Centre is on the fourth floor of the Library. It is staffed by English instructors who offer free, one-on-one assistance with writing

  • resumes
  • proposals
  • and more 

You can sign up for a half-hour session, and drop-ins are also welcome.

Advising services

Advisors can help you reach your educational goals by developing educational plans that include other learning experiences such as work integrated learning, volunteering, peer helping, employment. Not sure what your educational goals are? Meet with an Advisor to explore your options.

  • understand program requirements and course prerequisites

Degree completion advising

Degree Advisors help you with course choices in your disciplines to ensure that you will meet all graduation requirements for Vancouver Island University degrees. For most degrees you must complete a Record of Degree Program (RDP) form with a Degree Advisor before you can become eligible to graduate.

Health and wellness

Heath and Wellness Centre

The Health and Wellness Centre can connect you to on- and off-campus options for your physical and mental health. If you have feedback about health and wellness at VIU, you can submit a form on the Health and Wellness Center site. 

Counselling Services

Professional counsellors at VIU provide immediate, confidential service to enrolled students. Counselling staff can also help you access supports in the community. For more information, visit VIU Counselling.
