Nanaimo campus

Located on the traditional territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation, the main VIU campus in Nanaimo has a stunning view of the Salish Sea. The campus spans 92 scenic acres and includes lush stands of forest and Japanese gardens.

The Nanaimo campus is home to the Trades Discovery Centre, Malaspina Theatre, the View Gallery and more. It features a charming mix of modern and character buildings. You can even find a log cabin tucked away on the hillside.

On-campus amenities

The Nanaimo campus features housing for more than 500 students. There are two cafeterias serving a variety of food options. The Campus Store carries books, sundries and more. And we offer all the services that students need for a successful academic year

Campus hours

Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm

Closed Saturdays and Sundays and statutory holidays

Most campus offices and buildings are open during campus hours. It’s always a good idea to check with the department you plan to visit to make sure someone will be available.

Accessibility on campus

The Nanaimo campus is on the base of Mount Benson, so there are many stairs. There are also accessible routes throughout the campus. And we’re improving accessibility on campus all the time. If you have accessibility concerns, take some time to review the Accessibility map before you visit campus.
